FINANCIAL ADVISORY SERVICES
The ObjectWay Financial Suite platform can optimize MiFID compliant retail banking advisory services.
Support for advisory services is provided by three different solutions:
ObjectWay Personal Financial Planning,
ObjectWay Portfolio,
ObjectWay MiFID Suitability & Appropriateness.
Even though the three solutions are closely interrelated through the sharing of common data and functions,
they can each be used on a stand-alone basis.
ObjectWay Personal Financial Planning consists of MiFID compliant advisory support tools for financial institutions and their clients.
DETAILS
The solution is intended for multichannel advisory services, measurement of the effect of proposed transactions on the riskiness
of portfolios, financial planning "by objectives" based on asset allocation.
- Financial Planning
This module lists the client’s objectives, provides an analysis of existing portfolios, suggests strategies, monitors investment
decisions made and verifies the suitability of MiFID either using the ObjectWay MiFID Suitability and Appropriateness module
or any other provider’s engines used by the client.
- Retirement planning
This module analyses the adequacy of retirement arrangements, identifies any shortfalls and proposes solutions.
- Household budget
This module can be used to manage cash inflows and outflows combined with analyses of a client’s projected networth.
ObjectWay Personal Financial Planning fulfills a multi-faceted role in support of advisory processes, in particular:
- assists financial advisors to establish and maintain relationships with clients by providing them with support tools than can be customized. It can also be used for post-sale monitoring;
- permits full integration of the bank’s various channels to take full advantage of available information so that a centralized database of client information can be created;
- provides tools to marketing and commercial managers to maximize client relationship potential by making information available to clients that is always up to date as well as being structured by specific client requirements;
- is a vehicle for marketing products by the network and enhances the methodological support of financial advisors by assuring that they are always in possession of the latest information;
- provides for the headoffice supervision of marketing staff though reviews of their performance in the field;
- assures the provision of tailored advice to clients, ongoing follow-up with actual vs plan comparisons in addition to giving clients the ability to directly modify their portfolios.

The solution comprises the following modules:
- Client position
The module retrieves and displays information retrieved from back office systems, blending it with information from information providers or the bank.
- Portfolio analysis
This module shows market and currency exposure, measures performance in accordance with international standards and performs a risk analysis. It also verifies compliance with MiFID using either the ObjectWay MiFID Suitability and Appropriateness module or any other provider’s engines used by the client
- Assets held by third parties
The module calculates total client investments in financial assets, real estate or any of other types of asset.
- Reporting
The module provides a wide selection of reports that can be customized and adapted to a specific client or portfolio.
ObjectWay Portfolio provides up to date information to advisors (portfolio managers, tied agents, bank consultants, private bankers and relationship managers) and their managers on:
- the status and evolution of clients’ assets under management and those held in custody
- advisor profitability
- market trends compared to client portfolio performance.
The solution’s prime advantages are its ease of use, the wealth of information supplied, the ability to adapt analyses and customize report formats. The benefit for the end-customer is the ability to obtain extensive information tailored to the client’s investment portfolio.

ObjectWay MiFID Suitability and Appropriateness meets the needs of financial institutions because it permits:
- the centralized configuration of client profiling rules for the provision of services and verification of the suitability and appropriateness of transactions that have been requested or recommended;
- the provision of advisory services by the bank in a manner that underlines their high standard;
- the straightforward and timely verification of the suitability of investment recommendations by evaluating the client portfolio rather than just individual transactions;
- the ongoing monitoring and flagging of client portfolios with respect to their suitability.
This module serves as the basis for:
- the verification of the suitability of investment recommendations made by advisors to assure compliance with MiFID;
- sales and distribution solutions for brokers, advisors and tied agents, that verify the suitability and appropriateness of orders input in comparison with a client’s portfolio and profile.

WHO & WHAT
UBI BANCA
UBI Banca Group operates through nine regional banks and approximately 2,000 branches. It selected the ObjectWay Financial Suite - Financial Planning, Portfolio, MiFID Adequacy and Appropriateness - to support the provision of MiFID compliant advisory services by the group's 2,000 branches. UBI Banca will introduce ObjectWay in November 2009 to improve the quality of financial advice that is personalized and targeted to the needs of different customer segments (retail, “affluent”, “top affluent”) in compliance with regulatory requirements.
ING DIRECT
ING Direct, which is owned by the Dutch financial giant ING, is the largest online bank in the world and has over 1 million customers in Italy. The Italian branch chose ObjectWay Order Management for the management of "Investimenti Arancio" due to the ease and efficient manner in which it can manage the sales of funds and SICAV through its distribution channels: call centres, interactive voice response and the internet.
BANCA SELLA GROUP
The Banca Sella Group consists of a bank holding company, four retail banks, and a private bank all of which are served by a centralized back office. It selected the entire ObjectWay SMIT2 product line to support securities operations in 330 branches, online retail clients and the customers of SellaXtrading. The Securities Middle & Back Office, Portfolio Administrator and Portfolio Manager solutions are now integral parts of the Group’s information system that is built on service-oriented architecture, and supports order input, transmission and execution, proprietary trading, wealth management and securities custody services.
The Group also selected ObjectWay Portfolio for client portfolio management assigned to its private bankers and network of financial advisors.
